After sunshine yesterday, this is the kind of weather we had today...
But Brad stayed cheery in spite of it all. Today was the first time we missed a couple of turns and had to readjust our route - thank goodness for Google Maps!
We arrived at the lovely St. James Hotel in Nottingham. Our room is on the top floor along the very back of the gray roof line.
This is the fanciest decor we have had so far.
After we loaded everything into the room, we took the car back to Avis a day early. They were getting ready to close because their underground parkade had flooded and their parking lot was a lake. It was lucky for us that we returned the car early, and lucky for them, as they had to deny a woman her reservation due to the flooding. She was not happy, but they were able to give her the car that we returned early, so it worked out for everyone. We walked back up to a pub in the pouring rain and had a late lunch. It was nice to linger and we had the place almost to ourselves. It was so miserable no one was really out and about. We spent a busy evening booking our last three train trips, then went to the hotel restaurant for a late dinner of pizza. We finished up the night booking hotels in Cheltenham, London and Paris. That was all we had to book, so now we can just enjoy the rest of our trip!
