Had a routine morning. Since we got a little too much sun yesterday, today is to be an indoor day for the most part. But first, fruit! I mentioned that local fruit is only available at what we would call the farmer's market in Nadi. The grocery stores we've been in seem to just sell the imported stuff, apples and oranges. So back on the Yellow Bus:

Monday
We decided we would stay at the resort today. We were up, had breakfast and in the pool by 8:45. We hung out at the adult pool, which is away from the beach so is nice and quiet. The whole resort seems a bit quieter today, maybe because school starts tomorrow in Australia.
Sunday
After a great sleep we woke up to our first full day in Fiji! We are staying at a place called Denarau Island, which is a man made island outside of Nadi. There are about 6 resorts on the island. There is also a marina and a shopping centre. Here is the view from our balcony:

Saturday
The alarm went off at 4 am. We got out of the hotel by 5:15 and walked the 5 minutes to the train. When we got there we found out that Museum Station is not open on weekends, so we had to walk nearly 15 minutes in the opposite direction to Central Station. Once we got on the train it was only 10 or 15 minutes to the airport. The flight was uneventful; the plane was only half to two thirds full, so we had three seats to ourselves.
We arrived in Fiji four hours later, around 1:45 local time. I thought Fiji is two hours ahead of Sydney, but I was wrong, it is only one hour time difference. Right away we got hustled into a cab by an unlicensed cabbie. I don't mean he didn't have a license, just that his cab was unregistered. We probably paid way too much, but we didn't realize it until the luggage was loaded and we were settled in; then I noticed that he didn't have a meter, and when I commented, he avoided the subject. Oh well.
We got settled in and unpacked. Then nothing, just relaxed for a few hours. We went to the hotel restaurant for dinner, then wandered around to find the pools and the beach.
Friday
This morning we took the train to the Opera House and signed up for a tour. We had an hour to kill so grabbed a snack at the Opera Kitchen, where I made a new friend.

Thursday
We woke up to another relatively cool day of 21 degrees. We headed out around 10:30 and walked up Pitt Street towards the Quay.
This is one of the buildings in the Pitt St shopping district:
We stopped at Katmandu, an outdoor store, and picked up a couple of things. We spent the rest of the morning at the Justice and Police Museum learning all about Sydney's criminal element. I saw these shady characters while I was there:

Wednesday
Another leisurely start to our day. Woke up to 21 degrees, a huge change from yesterday. After breakfast we headed out to the train and took it one stop north to Hyde Park Barracks Museum. Don't judge, our feet are killing us!
