We were up bright and early, had breakfast and met our tour guide in the lobby at 8:15.  We visited Nathan Phillips Square and saw the old city hall, went underground into the PATH (underground tunnel network connecting office towers and shops), then up the CN Tower.

There were 6 of us on the tour, plus maybe 5 or 6 other people up top.  We spent over ½ hour slowly walking around taking pictures.  It was overcast but not hazy, so a worker pointed out the tall buildings of Niagara Falls and Rochester New York off in the distance.  She said it is pretty rare to be able to see them.

We were so happy that the crowds hadn’t arrived yet.  We learned why when we came down.  Our tour guide told us that about 10 minutes after we went in a piece of glass fell from above.  They closed the doors, and no one was allowed in or out.  He was worried that we would be trapped in there for a while, but we were fine.  They had caution tape where the glass had fallen.

We then headed to the harbour for a boat tour around Muggs Island.  It was nice to see the harbourfront skyline and learn a bit about the islands.  The land is leased from the city, you can get a house for $400,000 to $600,000 but it is so desirable that there is a 250-year waiting list.  Unfortunately, there were two couples sitting near us that didn’t not stop talking loudly for the whole tour.  The lady in front of me actually asked me to tell them to shut up (she was too far away to do it herself).  A lot of people were glaring at them, and I finally did turn around and ask them to be quiet.  They were for about 2 minutes, then started up again.  It was so disrespectful to the young tour guide who was trying his best to be heard.

We then went to St. Lawrence Market and had ½ hour to wander around there.  We got some lunch, then back to the hotel by 1:00.

We had a few hours to relax, so I posted 4 days’ worth of blog.

We got dressed for dinner and headed back to the CN Tower (about a 10 minute walk).  There were 5 of us from the train that were doing dinner so we asked if we could all sit together.  We had a nice time watching the view as we revolved around the tower with Sonya, Lisa and Glen.
